Addenbrooke’s ACT for fundraising

ACT logo

As of 1 January 2007, fundraising at Addenbrooke’s Hospital takes on a new look as the hospital’s existing charity launches a brand new identity. The Fund & Friend’s of Addenbrooke’s will be renamed Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). Continuing the work of the Fund & Friend’s of Addenbrooke’s, ACT will play an important role in raising funds to support those services and facilities provided by the NHS. Drop in and see us in ur new office in the Clinical School building, opposite the Emergency Department entrance.

HRH Prince Michael of Kent visited the hospital recently in his capacity as Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons to see a ‘robot’ in action. The Mark Master Masons was just one of the organisations whose donations helped to buy the da Vinci Robot Surgeon which is enabling radical prostatectomy procedures for patients with prostate cancer to be completed through keyhole openings for the first time in the UK.

NICU accepts the smallest, sickest babies from around the eastern region and often beyond and provides intensive care, high dependency and special care cots. Wilf and Jag set off in February on their five-day expedition – if you would like to show your support we’d love to hear from you!

Rock ‘n’ roll band Ramshackle Daddies held a fundraising gig at Cottenham Social Club in October and raised an amazing £1,350 for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Band leader Steve Gates said the gesture was to say ‘thank you’ to staff who cared for his grandson Hayden.
